Kelsi Retallick, Glen Haven, represented Wisconsin at the 2008 National Junior Angus Showmanship Contest, held in conjunction with the National Junior Angus Show, July 17-19 in Des Moines, Iowa. Forty-six youth from across the country competed for top honors in the 42nd annual event.

The National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) mentoring program pairs first- and second-time attendees with those people who have attended multiple shows so the newcomers can meet new people and share new experiences. The first three proteges who turned their mentoring autograph books into the show office were recognized at the 2008 NJAS Awards Ceremony, July 18 in Des Moines, Iowa. The American Angus Auxiliary awarded $12,000 in scholarships to deserving young men and women who are recent high school graduates at the 2008 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) Awards the scholarships to five young men and five young women. All are May 2008 high school graduates, and will prepare a speech, take a written quiz and interview before a panel of judges before one of them is crowned the 2009 Miss American Angus.
