WISCONSIN ANGUS AUXILIARY 2009 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
The Wisconsin Angus Auxiliary would like to congratulate this year's scholarship winners.
Kelli Retallick will recieive an $800 scholarship toward her goal of a degree in animal science at UW-Madison. Kelli is the daughter of Kevin and Keri Retallick from Glen Haven. She is active in 4-H, FFA, and the Wisconsin Junior Angus Association. She received her National Junior Angus Association Bronze and Silver Awards in 2008. Kelli plays an active role in her family's Angus business. She has been a member of the WJAA Board of Directors for 4 years and currently serves as President.
Amber Horstmeyer will receive a $600 scholarship. Amber is the daughter of Doug and Christi Horstmeyer and lives in Monona. She is active in the Wisconsin Junior Angus Association, 4-H and FFA. In addition to her responsibilities on her family's farm, she enjoys sports and participating in livestock judging competitions. Amber will attend UW-Madison to pursue a degree in animal science.
Kelsi Retallick is the recipient of this year's post-secondary scholarship for $500. Kelsi is also the daughter of Kevin and Keri Retallick from Glen Haven. She has been active in the Wisconsin Junior Angus Association, National Junior Angus Association, and 4-H, and currently participates in Collegiate FFA, UW-Madison Saddle and Sirloin Club, and UW-Madison National Agri-Marketing Association. Kelsi is currently working on a degree in animal science and agricultural law at UW-Madison.

Wisconsin Angus Auxiliary
The Wisconsin Angus Auxiliary is open to all women who are interested in promoting the Angus breed and supporting the Wisconsin Angus Association and its youth. The Auxiliary raises funds and awards scholarships each year to junior Angus breeders, provides assistance to juniors for scholarship opportunities from other organizations, sponsors the Ambassador program, sponsors a hospitality table at the Angus Sale during World Beef Expo, and supports many Angus-related activities throughout the year. The Wisconsin Angus Auxiliary held their annual meeting in conjunction with the Wisconsin Angus Association’s annuyal meeting at the Chula Vista resort in the Wisconsin Dells on January 24, 1009. New Officers were elected this year. Kathy Miller is the new president, Diane Kegley, Vice President and Chris Konkol, Secretary/Treasurer. Three scholarships were awarded at the annual meeting. Kelly Retallick received an $800 scholarship, Amber Horstmeyer received a $600 scholarship and Kelsi Retallick received the post secondary education scholarship of $500. Kelsey Konkol was named the 2009 Miss Wisconsin Angus Queen. This is a reminder that the Wisconsin Angus Auxiliary will once again be running the food booth at the Wisconsin Angus Breeders Sale on March 22 in Lancaster, so please come hungry! The Auxiliary will also be holding their annual Dessert Auction at the spring sale. This is our main funding source for scholarships, so any dessert donations would be greatly appreciated. Come to the auction, bid often and bid high!
